ARGENTIUM SILVER AND GOLD ONE OF A KIND JEWELRY!
This is a quick video of Janet making a hollow pendant accented with three diamonds and teardrop faceted stone.
Jewelry artist, Janet Alexander, won the Finalist Award in the 2015 Saul Bell Jewelry Design Award Competition – recognizing distinction in jewelry design. The Saul Bell competition is conducted yearly and open worldwide to jewelers with only five winning finalists in each category. Janet placed as one of five finalists in the Metal Clay category. For the competition Janet created, “Mom’s Jewelry Box.” This unique box is made of pure silver. Mom’s Jewelry Box is unique in that the jewelry, a bracelet, earrings, and ring attach to the outside of the box with mom’s most prized gem inside, a carved pendant of her and her child. The bracelet, made of sterling silver, sits on a small ledge around the box’s bottom. Earrings (fine silver) attach into the sides and the ring, made of fine silver and sterling silver, crowns the top of the box by sitting in a hidden compartment. All are accented with opals.
The pendant of mother and child sits nestled under two hand-carved trees representing the tree of life and family trees. Under the trees are carved rose bushes surrounding the pendant. The pendant’s chain is handmade and disappears into another hidden compartment.
This hand-form copper and sliver box with a hidden drawer is a puzzle box. Janet won Award of Merritt at the 2004 Craft Houston show. Her metal work displayed for a year at the following museums: El Paso Museum of Fine Art, Wichita Falls Museum of Fine Art, and at Craft Houston.
